Fireworks Mode: Sparks Fly With the Samsung NX mini

Sizzling. Mystifying. Unpredictable. Fireworks excite child inside of us because for a mesmerizing moment nothing else exists except a flash of color set on fire. Fireworks are the perfect model for photographers: they’re always morphing their pose, changing the hue of their outfit, and no two are ever the same. It’s truly a fun experience shooting a fireworks show, because you never know what kind of results you’re going to get. Everything happens so fast that it’s hard to tell what you may have captured in that split second between a blaze of lightning and smoke.

This is where a camera with a fireworks feature, like the Samsung NX mini comes in handy. It is perfectly tuned to freeze each energetic moment into a single, stunning frame. This mode creates brighter colors, more defined streaks of light, and a sense of stillness to your photos.

To shoot using the FIREWORKS feature, on the mode screen of your NX mini select SMART→ FIREWORKS.

Shooting fireworks is always a surprise. You never know if you’ll get something literal of very abstract. One of my favorite parts is that the background comes out in a stark black, really allowing you to showcase whatever light configurations you achieve.

For me, the editing process is the most fun; examining each photo and discovering what worked and what didn’t. I suggest cropping some of your shots to focus on the more interesting parts of each frame, which in turn enhances the drama.

Although fireworks may not happen too often, the FIREWORKS mode on the NX Mini is a great feature to have in your back pocket for those special occasions, or even when you’re feeling a bit experimental.
