Malasaña, Spain: Graphic Streets and Vintage Treasures

One of my favorite things to photograph are neighborhoods filled with street art, from 3rd Street in Los Angeles to the Mission District in San Francisco. That’s why I was really excited to take my Samsung NX300 to the Malasaña barrio of Madrid, where graffiti artists, hipster coffee shop goers, and colorfully inked tattoo artists unite.

The Samsung NX300 is lightweight, so it was easy to carry around my neck for a day of wandering down the maze-like alleyways of Madrid’s artsy district. To capture the myriad of colors that sprawl along the buildings, I set my camera to “Rich Tones” mode which makes colors vibrant and sharper.

Clockwise from left to right:

NX300 | 1/200 | f/5 | ISO 100 | 18mm Spanish Posters
NX300 | 1/80 | f/3.5 | ISO 100 | 18mm A Moment of Zen

Clarity plus color made my day trip adventure easy to capture. Even in black and white you can see the details of this graphic neighborhood come to life.
