Refresh Your Snapshots Shoot Using Square Dimesnions

Sometimes being a square is the last thing from boring. Shooting using square dimensions gives your photos a quirky, collectable feel that captures the essence of a ‘snapshot.’ With the Samsung NX300 SMART CAMERA you have the option of changing your shooting ratio from the typical landscape and portrait to a square ratio.

With the NX300 you can shoot in 1×1 using the following pixel dimensions: 3648 x 3648; 2640 x 2640; 2000 x 2000; and 1024 x 1024. Select your desired photo resolution and aspect ratio by selecting MENU > Photo Size.

NX300 | 1/200 | f/5.6 | ISO 200 | 18mm Feeling Square

Shooting in square is all about the details. While some small images may go unnoticed in a full landscape shot, shooting in square is similar to shooting in Macro. With a smaller space, it’s hard to miss anything in the shot, and you can fill up the entire frame without it feeling overwhelming.

Architecture Clippings
Clockwise from top left: NX300 | 1/100 | f/13 | ISO 200 | 18mm; NX300 | 1/60 | f/20 | ISO 200 | 40mm; NX300 | 1/320 | f/8 | ISO 200 | 33mm

With square snapshots you can play around with abstract and more traditional perspectives of a scene. Since they’re small in dimension, they can easily be placed together as a diptych or triptych to be framed later on. You can also create interesting collages by combining all of your 1×1 snaps from your latest trip or adventure!
